STATEMENT
BEDZIN SERIES
My father, Henry (1925 - 2015), grew up in Bedzin Poland. Before the war, his father, Joseph (1898 - 1945), was chief engineer of a nearby factory (Polske Zaklady Przemyslu Cinkowe) that specialized in galvanized tin. Henry survived the Holocaust, but Joseph did not, nor did the rest of his extended family. Henry would talk about how as a young child he would play with scrap pieces of tin. These works are in remembrance of his youth.
